I’m Amy Butler Greenfield, and I was on my way to a Ph.D. when I gave into temptation and became a writer. I’m the author of A Perfect Red, Ra the Mighty, and other books for children and adults. Among other honors, my work has won a PEN Award, a Prix du Livre Environnement, and a Beacon of Freedom Award. I grew up in the Adirondack Mountains in New York State and I now live with my family in England, where I write, bake cake, and plot mischief.
I have a soft spot for history, suspense, quirky characters, and plots full of twists and reversals. (I have a soft spot for chocolate, too. Preferably very dark!)

‘A Perfect Red’ is just fabulous, my dear. This book gave me the best understanding
of history ever and a new-found interest in pre-Columbian life in the Americas. This book is one of the best I’ve ever enjoyed. Thank you so much!!
What a lovely note to find here! Thank you so much, Deborah. I have been so deep in drafting new books that I missed this comment earlier, but you made my day today.
